Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones shot a music video for "Streets Of Love" on August 29, in Ottawa. The band arrived at the shoot in the late afternoon, and spent most of their time on the set in Zaphod, an atmospheric small club on York Street. Ottawa police shut down the street and fans crowded around the barricades, snapping photos and cheering as the band went back and forth between their trailers and the club. Fans who had been picked to be extras in the club got an unexpected treat. During a break in filming, the RS broke into an energetic performance of "Going To A Go Go" Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie were alone on-stage in the tiny club, when they roared into the tune...playing just for the fun of it. Director Jake Nava and his crew shot interiors and exteriors around Ottawa late into the night with Canadian actor Tan Arcade, who plays the main character in the video.

O contrabaixista Carlos Bica é um dos mais célebres e solicitados músicos nacionais, tendo convivido artisticamente com intérpretes da mais distinta estirpe como António Pinho Vargas, Camané, Janita Salomé, José Mário Branco, Maria João e Mário Laginha, em Portugal, e Paolo Frésu, Aki Takase, Lee Konitz ou Alexandre von Schlippenbach, além-fronteiras. Presentemente, o músico faz parte do projecto Azul - na companhia do guitarrista alemão Frank Möbus e do percussionista americano Jim Black - do Tuomi Trio (com a cantora finlandesa Kristiina Tuomi e o pianista Carsten Daerr) e divide os palcos berlinenses com Sven Klammer (trompetista alemão) e Kalle Kalima (guitarrista finlandês) no trio Bica/Klammer/Kalima. Considerado um dos mais férteis e inventivos músicos jazzda sua geração, Bica apresenta-nos um disco arrojado. Single atreve-se destemidamente a isolar o contrabaixo, a chamá-lo ao foco, a dar-lhe o destaque do papel principal. Aqui, não há mais nada. Apenas Bica e o seu Prosper Colas, de 1891. Pode a ideia não ser totalmente original, pode até o contrabaixo não ser o mais versátil dos instrumentos, mas o génio e a intuição de Bica levam-nos à deriva num embalo mágico, feito de melancolias e de pesares que se desenlaçam dos vibratos e assumem um corpo próprio. Há nas composições uma alma profundamente lusitana, uma tímida fragrância de saudade, um quase-fado que se insinua na sensualidade dos tons graves. Single é a quimera musical das fotos de Pedro Cláudio que habitam o booklet do álbum. É uma ilusão em melodias obstinadas da pureza da abóbada celeste, do bulício da urbe, da misantropia de um corvo, do cinzento frio de uma pedra, da vastidão dos oceanos, da efervescência do fogo, do adeus de um pôr de sol, do frio da neve, do recato de um terreiro. Single é tudo isso. É um contrabaixo sozinho, o músico é um mero artífice, um veio mecânico que pulsa das cordas as notas que já lá estão, à espera da revelação. E Bica mostra-as como poucos, exibe-as cruamente, sem artimanhas de estúdio. Como nos curiosos cinquenta e sete segundos dedicados a "Ay! Linda Amiga", uma composição anónima do século XVI, a única peça não original de um alinhamento minimalista. O conceito solitário que Carlos Bica propõe com Single é tão intuitivo que suscita óbvio debate: com este alcance no contrabaixo, quem reclama outros instrumentos?

Nokia 770 Internet Tablet Release Date Postponed As Q3 2005 is ending, two weeks ago Nokia’s representative had confirmed that the release date of the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet is pushed to Q4 2005 “to enable more mature software at launch.
